ECNL Releases Member Club Standards and Guidelines
Oct 06 2009 - CL

The Elite Clubs National League released its 2009-2010 Member Club Standards and Guidelines this week to all 40 ECNL Member Clubs -- including FC Milwaukee Nationals, Wisconsin's only ECNL Member Club. The Standards are designed to provide a framework for improving player development within each Member Club, and to provide recommendations regarding training frequency, coaching licensure and expectations, as well as processes for developing annual technical reports and other developmental measurements for each ECNL team.
"The primary goal of the ECNL is to raise the daily standard for player development in elite clubs throughout the country, and this document provides the first steps in helping to do that," said ECNL President and FC Milwaukee U17 Coach Christian Lavers. "We are trying to take the best practices of the best youth clubs throughout the country, combined with the recommendations of national team and WPS coaches, to create a blueprint for player development. Our challenge at FC Milwaukee now is to apply those standards consistently at all age groups." FC Milwaukee U16 Coach Rob Lestina shared this goal: "Our goal at FC Milwaukee is to help Wisconsin's best players develop to the peak of their ability. By providing some objective guidlines, the ECNL Standards will help us do that with our teams even better."
