Inaugural ECNL Player Identification Program National Training Camp Concludes; FC Milwaukee's Lindsey Holmes a Participant
Mar 04 2010 - CL

The first National Training Camp co-sponsored by the Elite Clubs National League concluded on March 1, 2010 in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. The 4 day camp was co-sponsored by the ECNL in conjunction with US Club Soccer's id2 Program. The ECNL identified 30 of the 60 players invited into the camp through scouting of ECNL competition in August, December and January, and also paid for the costs for these players to attend the camp. FC Milwaukee's Lindsey Holmes, a forward on the U16 Blue team, was one of the 30 invites.
"The quality of players at this camp was tremendous" said ECNL President and FC Milwaukee U17 Blue Coach Christian Lavers. "Most impressively, 5 players from this camp were identified by US Soccer National Staff for invitations into one of the next U15 or U17 Youth National Team camps, and several will be first-time invites. This is a great reflection of the quality of scouting provided by the ECNL to identify these players, and of course of the quality of these players and the players in the ECNL in general."
A video recap of the camp, including interviews with players and staff is available at www.vimeo.com/9868270. In addition to several training sessions and 11 vs. 11 matches, the players heard presentations on nutrition for athletes, a technical analysis of the U17 Women's World Cup, and a question-and-answer session with former Olympic Gold Medalist and World Cup Champion Cindy Parlow.
