ECNL Player Identification Program Recommends Lindsey Holmes to id2 National Training Camp

FC Milwaukee U16 player Lindsey Holmes (Verona, WI) was among the 60 players invited to US Club Soccer's upcoming id2 National Training Camp in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, consisting of players from the 1994, 1995 and 1996 age groups. Lindsey Holmes was one of 30 players from the 1994 birth year invited to the camp based on their individual performances in ECNL competition over the past several months. The ECNL will be subsidizing the cost of the training camp for these 30 players.

The National Training Camp will be held from February 26 - March 1, 2010 and will include some of the country's top club coaches as well as US Soccer Youth National Team Staff. All players invited from the 1994 age group were selected by the ECNL Player Identification Program, which was launched in December 2009 to identify the best players in the ECNL based on their performances in their normal environment. As Wisconsin's only member of the ECNL, FC Milwaukee's U15, U16, and U17 players are provided with this additional identification opportunity.

"Lindsey is a fantastic player with great creativity and individual attacking ability" said FC Milwaukee U16 coach Rob Lestina. "She deserves this opportunity to train and compete with some of the country's best players, and I am confident that she will do very well. I am very excited for her."

The ECNL Player Identification Program is designed to insure that the top players on the top clubs in the country are provided an opportunity to be seen and evaluated for consideration in youth national teams. "This program utilizes the opinions of the coaches that train the players every day, that see them competing against the best on a regular basis, and that know their personalities best. When this information is combined with information from independent scouts evaluating some of the best youth soccer games in the country, we are confident that the cream will rise to the top" said ECNL President and FC Milwaukee U17 coach Christian Lavers.
